Remembering Nigel Olsen

His proud mother, Kim, e-mails about her son:

LCpl Nigel Olsen was the youngest of 10 children. Born a patriot, he insisted on flying the flag at our home as a child and was always found running around the neighborhood in his camouflage and face paint. One week after high school graduation, Nigel joined the USMC as a reservist. His company deployed to Afghanistan in Oct. of 2009. It was his first and last deployment. While escorting a suspected Taliban prisoner, an approaching LAV struck an IED and Nigel died from the blast. He is remembered by his brothers in arms as a man who loved his service to his country and his God and a man of integrity.

Thank you, Mrs. Olsen, for letting us get to know your son a little this Memorial Day. We are in your debt and so sorry for your loss. Thank you and God bless you and all who knew and loved your son.
