Rep. Conyers at Immigration Hearing: ‘I Hope Nobody Uses the Term Illegal Immigrants Here Today’
In the course of a hearing on immigration policy held by the House Judiciary Committee this morning, Michigan representative John Conyers warned those gathered, “I hope no one uses the term ‘illegal immigrants’ here today.” He went on to say, “Our citizens are, the people in this country are not illegal, they are out of status, they are new Americans that are immigrants, and I think that we can forge a path to citizenship that will be able to pass muster.”
