Representative Dan Crenshaw, R., Texas, discussed politics with National Review senior writer David French at the 2019 NRI Ideas Summit held at the Mandarin Hotel in Washington, D.C. on March 28 and 29.

French begins the exclusive interview by touching on Rep. Crenshaw’s Saturday Night Live appearance and from there the two discuss religion and public life as well as political polarization.

“In a few months in Washington, I’ve maybe become more cynical than I was before already — about intentions at least,” Crenshaw says. “But for the most part, you know, it is important to humanize people and try not to dehumanize people.”

He continues, “And maybe that’s where religion really comes into this.”
