Report: Tree Obama Planted in India Last Month Almost Dead

President Obama’s recent trip to India was intended to turn over a new leaf in Indo-American relations, but that may prove more difficult than anticipated. A tree the president planted at a memorial for Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi a little over three weeks ago is reportedly “dying.”

Politico cites local Indian media reports that President Obama’s Ficus religiosa has lost all of its leaves due to lack of care. Meanwhile, a nearby tree planted by President Bill Clinton in 2000 remains healthy and flourishing.

A gardener at the site had claimed that the loss of leaves was due to changing weather.
