President Bush worshipped at St. John’s Episcopal yesterday, but since the church is being renovated, the services are being held nearby — inside the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. I’ll probably get nasty mail because of this, but here goes: an Episcopal service at the chamber of commerce wouldn’t have surprised me a generation ago, but today I would have thought they’d find a more suitable venue — Planned Parenthood of DC, for instance, is just a couple of blocks away, as is the National Council of La Raza, and AFL headquarters is practically across the street. Heck, the offices of the Washington Blade are almost around the corner!
