Republicans for the D.C. Bill

Seven* Republicans voted for the D.C. bill. I can understand why the Utah Republicans voted for it (their state gets an extra House seat), and why the Maine Republicans voted for it (they’re liberals), and why Specter voted for it (he’s Specter). Dick Lugar’s vote is a little more mysterious. And then there’s Norm Coleman. It’s one thing to move left on selected issues to win re-election. Moving left on a bunch of issues for no particular reason other than that you’re scared strikes me as less defensible.

* Make that eight: I forgot Voinovich.
