Republicans Strike Back Against Reid

Senator Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) and RNC Chairman Reince Priebus slammed Harry Reid last week for an unsubstantiated claim the Senate majority leader made on Thursday that Mitt Romney “hasn’t paid any taxes for ten years.”

“I actually like Harry, but what he did on the floor of the Senate is so out of bounds,” Graham told CNN’s Candy Crowley on State of the Union, “I think he’s lying about his statement of knowing something about Romney.”

On ABC’s This Week, Mr. Priebus said,

As far as Harry Reid is concerned, listen, I know you might want to go down that road, I’m not going to respond to a dirty liar who hasn’t filed a single page of tax returns himself, complains about people with money but lives in the Ritz Carlton here down the street. “He complains about money but lives in the Ritz Carlton here, down the street. If this is on the agenda, I’m not going to go there. This is just a made-up issue. The fact that we’re going to spend any time talking about it is just ridiculous.

The Republicans’ attacks against Reid come days after Mitt Romney told Sean Hannity in an interview, “It’s time for Harry to put up or shut up… It’s untrue, dishonest and inaccurate. It’s wrong. So I’m looking forward to [having] Harry reveal his sources and we’ll probably find out that it’s the White House.”
