Inkwell chortles over
the fact that one of the paintings that burned up in that huge art warehouse
fire in London recently was Chris Ofili’s “The Holy Virgin Mary.” You might
remember that that painting depicted the Virgin Mary covered with cow dung.
It hung in the Brooklyn Museum of Art several years ago, and caused quite a
stir. One’s heart bleeds at this tragic loss.
