‘Revolutionary Communist’ Protesters Burn Flag, Block Convention Entrance

Protesters managed their first disruption, albeit a minor and brief one, at the Republican National Convention this afternoon, when a group burned an American flag. The Cleveland Police said two officers were assaulted with minor injuries.

The Cleveland Fire Department was on scene to extinguish the flames, and they removed the flag.

The protest was at main entrance to the restricted convention grounds for media and delegates, at East Fourth and Prospect Avenue. The police responded by putting a “dispersal order” in effect, gradually but steadily clearing the intersection — and cutting off delegates and media from the entrance.

At least one group of protesters was with the Revolutionary Communist Party.

 The response included mounted police…

… and cops in riot gear.

There were considerably more members of the media at the scene than actual protesters.

Members of Bikers for Trump handed out water bottles to the cops standing and enforcing the dispersal order.
