I just read Rich’s excellent take on the Carter controversy. One question comes to mind. Rich writes:
Incredibly, given his media presence, Carter thinks that he is being silenced by shadowy forces. He makes this bizarre claim: “My most troubling experience has been the rejection of my offers to speak, for free, about the book on university campuses with high Jewish enrollment.” Does Carter keep track of which schools have lots of Jews? And who does he think is keeping him from speaking at them?
Carter should certainly say which schools have rejected his offer to speak. Most universities would jump at the chance to host him, and most campuses would boil over with outrage if the administrators turned him away. Carter should elaborate and prove me wrong but, unfortunately, I suspect he is lying.
