Roe v. Wade Did Not Restrict Abortion in Any Way

President Biden was asked by a reporter about abortion today:

But here’s the thing. Roe did not place any restrictions on abortion. Rather, it established restrictions on the kinds of limitations states could impose.

Under Roe, states were free to allow as much abortion as state lawmakers wanted. Indeed, before the Dobbs case was decided, some states passed laws allowing zero restrictions on abortion. These laws did not violate Roe v. Wade.

Perhaps it is the president who needs to be educated.
