Romney on Santorum for VP: He Doesn’t Have ‘the Fiscal Conservative Chops’

Asked if he would try to pick a running mate perceived as more conservative than him, Mitt Romney told Fox Business Network, “Well, that would preclude Rick Santorum.”

“I find it interesting that he continues to describe himself as the real conservative,” Romney added in the interview to be aired tonight. “Rick Santorum is not a person who is an economic conservative to my right. His record does not suggest he has the fiscal conservative chops that I have.”
