Because of what seem to the amateur observer to be ridiculous oversight rules that make it impossible for the governor of Massachusetts to fire the guy, this sounds like a big Big Dig victory for the guv there:
AP: Matt Amorello has agreed to resign as chairman of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority.
The news comes just before the scheduled start of a hearing called by governor Romney to remove him from the post.
