Another e-mail:
I was driving across Michigan recently, and when I got out into the
rural areas, the only yard signs I saw for ANY politician were for
Ron Paul. There was a truly enormous one, almost a billboard
(except for being vinyl), on one farmer’s property adjacent to 1-
94. I checked Paul’s website, and there’s nothing that size
available on it. Also, the sign I saw was white-on-black, while
everything on Paul’s website is the traditonal red, white, and
blue. Which means that the guy that owns the property must have
paid out-of-pocket to have a professionally made giant vinyl sign
to put up.
I personally think that Paul is the Howard Dean of this campaign,
in an that an enthuisistic, almost fanatical grassroots does not
equal votes. But it does count for something. I think all the
Paul people, almost all Republicans of one sort or another, are
going to end up sitting out the general election. They’re going to
say they see no difference between Rudy and Hillary, the way Nader
voters in Florida said at there was nothing to chose from between
Bush and Gore. Could swing a couple states in a close election.
