Fred Barnes says that he hasn’t been demoted. Jonathan Chait sneers at this claim, and at Barnes generally. Chait is funny, but I think Barnes is right. First of all, I doubt that Rove’s formal job description has ever tracked too closely with how he actually spends his days. Second, how bad can it be to do less work on policy at a time when the administration can’t get much policy through?
