Rubio and Immigration, Ctd.

Mark and Rich would both like Rubio to come out for lower levels of immigration. I’d like that too, since I think that a lower level would be in the national interest. I’m less convinced that it’s in Rubio’s political interest to do it or that Rubio “needs” to do it, as Mark puts it. I don’t think it can be maintained that to get the nomination a candidate has to take a position that no nominee in my lifetime has taken. And Rubio is already facing criticism for flip-flopping on immigration, which would surely grow louder if he took this step.
