Earlier this week, the Florida senator had a lengthy chat with Charlie Rose about immigration. Rubio’s message: “I don’t pretend to speak for all Hispanics,” he said, but “my view is typical of many: I understand that this country needs to have a legal-immigration system.” On the other hand, “I know people who are undocumented, or have been undocumented in the past. And I feel bad for them. I feel sorry for them. And that’s my role as a policymaker — to figure out how we can balance these two issues.”
