Rubio Breaks With Gang of Eight on Cornyn Amendment

The Senate voted 54–43 to table an amendment from Senator John Cornyn (R., Texas) that would have strenghtened the border-security requirements in the immigration-reform bill and created a hard “trigger” that must be met before current illegal immigrants can earn green cards. Three GOP members of the Gang of Eight — Senators Lindsey Graham, John McCain, and Jeff Flake — joined most Democrats in rejecting the amendment. Interestingly, so did Senator Rand Paul.

Senator Marco Rubio, however, broke with the Gang and voted against the motion to table the amendment. Maybe he got a “pass” from Chuck Schumer this time?
