Did Trump Urge Russia to Hack Hillary Clinton?

This is a charge routinely lodged against Trump in the Left’s Russian hacking pieces. Yes, Trump said at a July press conference that Russia, if it’s listening, should find Hillary’s missing emails. But this clearly qualifies as a Trump statement that shouldn’t be taken seriously or literally. His line came after he, exasperatedly, told the press he had nothing to do with Russia and he included the sarcastic jab that if Russia found the emails it would be rewarded by the press. It’s certainly true that Trump has long implausibly denied Russian involvement in the hacking, but this throwaway line clearly doesn’t bear the weight that the Left wants to put on it.
