The Ryan Backlash Begins…

Democrats are already freaking out about the selection of Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) — author of the entitlement-reforming “Roadmap For America’s Future” — to deliver the Republican response to President Obama’s State of the Union address next week.

Here’s Jesse Ferguson of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee:

Picking Representative Paul Ryan to give the State of the Union rebuttal is a clear sign that House Republicans will move full speed ahead with plans that would have a devastating impact on seniors who are already struggling to get by. As if it wasn’t already clear, House Republicans are now doubling down on their disastrous plans to gamble Social Security funds on Wall Street and dismantle Medicare.

During the midterms, the DCCC under Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D., Md.) — now Ryan’s top opponent on the House Budget Committee — made a mission of accusing (falsely) any Republican who supported the “Roadmap,” however slightly, of wanting to do away with Social Security as we know it. We know how well that strategy worked out for them then. What was that about “doubling down?”

A  major plot point in Aquaman is the tidal wave of garbage with which the undersea folk attack us surface dwellers.
