Ryan Rules Out House Leadership Role, Says He ‘Enjoyed’ Presidential Campaign

House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) told Fox News Sunday he has no intention to serve in House leadership. Ryan said if he wanted to be in leadership he would have run for such a job “years ago”, and believes he can do more good in a policy role.

Ryan also said he intended to focus on the budget and not worry about positioning himself for a possible presidential run in 2016. Ryan did give one tidbit that might suggest he views a ‘16 run favorably, though. He told Chris Wallace that, far from dreading the idea of participating in another presidential slog, he “enjoyed” the 2012 presidential campaign and viewed it as a “pleasant exercise.”
