Sacramento’s leading newspaper ran an editorial cartoon by its Jack Ohman making light of the recent explosion in West, Texas, that left 15 dead and at least 160 injured.
Ohman defended himself on the paper’s website, arguing that the cartoon was “published to make a point” about the dangers of Texas’s taking pride in its light regulations. Earlier this year, Texas governor Rick Perry visited California and released a radio ad trying to woo companies to his more business-friendly state, explaining its favorable tax and regulatory climate.
