One of Bob Casey Jr.’s lame lines of attack is that Rick Santorum has somehow abandoned Pennsylvania because he and his dear wife Karen have chosen to settle their kids in Virginia while he goes back and forth. That’s simply a responsible parenting decision but Casey wants to hang Santorum on it. It’s a cheap, false, insulting tactic.
Truth is, my sense of both Senator and Mrs. Santorum has long been that they are very unBeltway Beltwayers — folks who would happily and comfortably and naturally live back home in Pennsylvania if they didn’t feel like he can do good in Congress. (I tried to relay that sense of Santorum here one day over the summer after spending a flash of quality time with him.)
