He could win tomorrow night. It’s conventional wisdom that he doesn’t have the money and organization to do anything with it. But if he manages to pull off an upset victory, he’s going to raise a ton of money in a hurry online. He’s already seeing this effect on a small scale. The lack of organization will be more problematic, although the other non-Romneys aren’t exactly organizational behemoths either at this point. The main thing if Santorum surprises tomorrow will be how he handles himself when the klieg lights turn on him in the immediate aftermath. Both Perry and Gingrich blew these sort of moments in different ways (although Gingrich also suffered a massive negative-advertising barrage), and are still trying to recover. My advice to Santorum would be to stay calm and within himself — over-eagerness is not his friend. But we’ll know much more after tomorrow night.
