Scary Stories

The Washington Post ran a symposium on scary stories yesterday. Lots of good suggestions, including several I need to check out myself. Shirley Jackson, who is the subject of my WSJ piece today, receives a few nice mentions. Also, there’s a dumb and off-topic swipe at Charles Krauthammer, by Lemony Snicket, who is the author of the Unfortunate Events series of books for kids. Apparently he hates conservatives.

John J. Miller, the national correspondent for National Review and host of its Great Books podcast, is the director of the Dow Journalism Program at Hillsdale College. He is the author of A Gift of Freedom: How the John M. Olin Foundation Changed America.
