Schakowsky: ‘Resentful’ that Fiscal Leadership Council Suggests Reforming Social Security

On the House floor earlier today, Illinois congresswoman Jan Schakowsky expressed her opposition to modifying social security benefits, saying she is “personally pretty resentful that some of the very richest people in our country” have suggested cuts to the program. Schakowsky referred in particular to the CEO Fiscal Leadership Council, a part of the Campaign to Fix the Debt, founded by former senator Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles.
