Chuck Schumer this morning said that, with yesterday’s announcement of an agreement between business and labor on immigration reform, he is “very, very optimistic” the Senate’s bipartisan “gang of eight” will come to an agreement on the legislative language of their legislation shortly. Markup and debate will take place in April, he said, and it will proceed to the Senate floor in May.
Schumer described the business-labor agreement as a “major, major obstacle” that had been overcome. Of the gang of eight, he told NBC’s Chuck Todd, “I don’t think any of us expect there to be problems.”
