I’m still looking into the details, but apparently California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has proposed the elimination of the state’s CalWORKs program by October 1, 2010 as part of his effort to close a $19.1 billion budget gap. If nothing else, his willingness to put the entire program on the table should indicate the severity of the state’s problems.
