Sebelius: Obamacare Navigators Could Be Felons

Convicted felons could be hired as Obamacare “navigators,” Health and Human Services secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted during Wednesday’s hearing.

Senator John Cornyn (R., Texas) asked Sebelius if there were requirements for background checks for navigators, who have access to sensitive personal information of users. While there were no federal requirements for checks, she explained, states could pass laws that would require a more rigorous screening process. She later conceded that it was “possible” for felons to be brought on as navigators and have access to such information.
