Senate Passes Amended CR, 54-44

On a party-line vote, the Senate approved a continuing resolution to fund the government after Democrats amended the legislation to remove a House-passed provision to defund Obamacare. The measure now returns to the House, where Republicans are expected to revise it further. Roughly three and a half days remain until government funding expires, which would precipitate a shutdown in the event that the two chambers fail to come to an agreement.
