Senator Elissa Slotkin is facing backlash after insinuating there could be consequences for young people from working in the Trump administration. On today’s episode of The Editors, Rich asks Jim what he thinks about the comments.
“The lust for vengeance does not know any partisan bounds,” Jim says. “Senator Elissa Slotkin says, quote, ‘I want young people coming out of school to say ‘Should I go work for the Trump administration?’ . . . I want them to be like, ‘Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don’t want.’
“She wants to deter them not from committing crimes in the administration, but from working in the administration at all . . . I got a whole bunch of beef with this administration, but that doesn’t mean I think that every single person who went to work for the Trump administration is a bad person who deserves . . . to be harassed.”
“Then she gets called out . . . She’s like, ‘I just wanted to stand up against a law break.’ No! No, you did not, because the people haven’t got to work in the administration yet.”
