Sen. Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.) thinks that President Obama had a momentous opportunity tonight to lead the way on “the single greatest issue that threatens America today, and that is the surging debt.”
Unfortunately, Session tells National Review Online, the president came up short. “More of the speech was devoted to more spending than it was to suggestions about anything else really,” he says.
And that’s a real shame. “I wish it weren’t so, but I truly believe we are on an unsustainable path,” he says. “We have got to have presidential leadership to get us off of that path and we didn’t get it tonight.”
