Shame On Detroit

I saw a brief story about an Iraqi lieutenant in the new police force over there. The Fox reporter made it pretty clear this guy has chosen sides and is on the same page as the Americans. Meanwhile, scores of his fellow officers have been assassinated for cooperating with the US. And this guy is hitch-hiking to work every morning. Is it inconceivable that the Big Three US automakers (and the Japanese ones too, when you think about it), donate a few hundred cars to the cause? They don’t have to be fancy — though some bullet-proof windows would be nice. After all, most cars in Iraq are clunkers. But if we could give the police forces some nice wheels, maybe that would go a long way in showing that it’s better to be working with us. How much could it cost to unload some old company cars? Come on guys, don’t wait to overcharge the Pentagon.
