Sharpton: Voter ID, Stop-and-Frisk Equivalent to Jim Crow Laws

MSNBC host Al Sharpton told attendees at the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington that, just as they are the “children of Dr. King,” they must now combat the next generation of Jim Crow laws. “I come to tell you just like our mothers and fathers beat Jim Crow, we will beat James Crow, Jr. Esq.,” he told the crowd, referring to laws like voter ID, stop-and-frisk, and “stand your ground.” Sharpton said that legislation is equivalent to Jim Crow laws of the Old South, but merely “puts [them] in language that looks different.”
