Sharyl Attkisson: Media Matters ‘Clearly Targeted Me,’ CBS News ‘Ideologically Entrenched’

Former CBS newswoman Sharyl Attkisson says the liberal group Media Matters may have intentionally targeted her for criticism.

“[Media Matters] clearly targeted me at some point. They used to work with me on stories, try to help me, you know, produce my stories,” Attkisson told CNN’s Brian Stelter Sunday. But that changed, she said, because of work she did that bothered the Left.

That’s not the only problem she faced: Some CBS News managers, she said, are “ideologically entrenched” and have a difficult time reporting stories that “reflect negatively upon government or the [Obama] administration.”

On Monday, Media Matters said Attkisson is “continuing a pattern of evidence-free speculation,” and that her “shoddy reporting” is the only reason why the group questions her work.

Attkisson, who won praise from conservatives for her aggressive reporting on Obama-administration scandals, resigned from CBS News on March 10 after a two-decade career with the network.
