This Shooting Does Not Fit the Usual Pattern

Nothing about this shooting fits the usual pattern. If, as seems to be confirmed, there were indeed three shooters, that rules out the lone wolf lunatics to which we have become sadly accustomed. And what does that mean? After all, there’s no such thing as a trio of coordinated schizophrenics — especially a trio that was “prepared” and “dressed for” an attack. The getaway car, too, was an odd touch. And when was the last time that a shooter actually escaped? That’s not ISIS’s style, is it? As far as I can see, this has more in common with a mafia or gang hit than anything else. But why?

As for the target, who the hell shoots up a social services clinic for the disabled?

Also odd is that the police seem to know nothing about the perpetrators. We haven’t been given any names or descriptions or racial identifiers. Nothing. Three people just swept into California, killed 14 people, and left. Further, the unwillingness to say that this is not a terrorist incident is weird. Typically, we are told that right away. Commenting on the events, President Obama said that it was time to ensure that people on the “terror watch list” were prohibited from buying firearms. Does this mean that he knows something we don’t? Or is he just using this abomination to push a law he has long coveted?

Very strange. Very strange indeed.
