Shouldn’t Somebody Note..

…in the midst of all the tributes to Susan Sontag, that in 1967 she

actually wrote these words: “The white race is the cancer of human

history”? She had the good sense to regret those specific words when

she herself became ill with cancer, but their combination of

pseudo-profundity, inanity and bumper-sticker simplemindedness are what

really characterized her work.
