I was all set to get into a big knock-down brawl with Ramesh in the Corner about the Krauthammer speech. But it turns out Ramesh’s objections all strike me as reasonable. Krauthammer probably is/was too dismissive of the utility of allies. But he was dismissive in style not so much in substance. He did concede that is better to have allies than not. He just didn’t get into all of the reasons why this is so.
