Sing For Your Citizenship

As part of their naturalization ceremony, new Britons will have to sing “God

Save the Queen”

.

I think this is a totally excellent idea. Nobody should become a citizen

who can’t do at least one verse of the Ntional Anthem. I can actually sing

the SECOND verse of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Here is the second verse of

“God Save the Queen”:

O Lord our God arise

Scatter her enemies

And make them fall.

Confound their politics!

Frustrate their knavish tricks!

On thee our hopes we fix–

God save us all!
