I thought Huckabee made an interesting and plausible argument against the straw poll: that it works in favor of candidates with enough money to waste on a nonbinding contest. It’s sort of like the argument conservatives and libertarians sometimes make about regulations — that their costs are more easily borne by big businesses and thus give them a competitive advantage.
