From a kid in attendance:
Thank you for coming to speak with us last night. I’m sorry if it
wasn’t what you were expecting. I think for the most part the
students who weren’t forced to be there enjoyed your humor (I know the
SLU Republicans and SLU Democrats in attendance did), but the faculty
here is extremely liberal and, more importantly, I think that both
they and many of the students were expecting someone a little less
irreverent and humorous (i.e. someone who would have explained
federalism the boring way we’ve always heard it). We’re used to dull
speakers on this campus (the building they stuck you in is
particularly notorious for that sort of thing), and because of it the
crowd that came didn’t really come ready to laugh.
