Some people are e-mailing me to the effect that, since 25 percent of all babies used to die before their fifth birthday, the points I made to Robert George would indicate I think such babies would be less than human. Nothing could be further from the truth. My point here is that science cannot get us far enough to answer the question of the moment at which a developing embryo-fetus is to be considered fully human, and I expect most of my e-mailers do agree with that.
