I thought this link to a photo, on Shorpy website, of a Child’s restaurant in D.C. circa 1917 was kind of interesting. In the comments one of the readers has posted an image of a newspaper article indicating that the U.S. Food Director is considering taking over Child’s restaurant because they have been overcharging. Even after reading your book it’s still hard to believe this stuff actually happened here in the U.S.
