Someone Gored My Ox

Conservatives arguing for enforcement of immigration laws** have been arguing for years that one reason our cognitive elites are so insouciant about the matter is that it’s not their ox being gored. If you’re a journalist, judge, or academic (the argument goes), no Third World fence-jumper is going to take your job.

Well, guess what.

** What an odd thing to be able to write! Why should anyone have to argue for enforcement of laws? Why, in this instance, are only conservatives doing so? What exactly are the counter-arguments — the arguments against enforcing the people’s laws? Etc., etc.
