Sonny Hostin Doesn’t Want to Know

Today’s Morning Jolt noted that a recent Harvard-Harris poll found that Elon Musk is seen favorably by 47 percent of registered voters and unfavorably by 33 percent. That was the highest positive percentage and the single best positive-to-negative ratio in the survey.

During today’s taping of The View, host Sonny Hostin was halfway through a declaration of Elon Musk’s supreme unpopularity, and that his poll numbers must be “in the toilet,” when a producer informed her, via her earpiece, that the recent Harvard-Harris poll found Musk more popular than President Joe Biden or former president Donald Trump.

The fact that Hostin operates in a liberal bubble is not particularly surprising. The fact that she hadn’t bothered to check public opinion polling before confidently declaring that Musk’s poll numbers must be “in the toilet” isn’t all that surprising, either. But the fact that someone at the program’s high command felt the need to have that false assertion instantly fact-checked and corrected is a little eyebrow-raising. Perhaps someone over there is getting tired of the show’s hosts getting things flat wrong with a metronomic regularity.

A lot of people whose role is to know this sort of thing absolutely refuse to know this sort of thing because it isn’t what they want to believe. As I am fond of pointing out, The View is a show about current events, featuring hosts who don’t know much about current events and who refuse to learn anything new about current events.
