TOKYO, Jan 24 (Reuters) – The United States has evidence on
Iraq’s maintenance of weapons of mass destruction, which it will
reveal at an “appropriate time,” Washington’s top arms control
diplomat said on Friday.
John Bolton, U.S. Undersecretary of State, said Iraq had been
engaged in denial and deception since the Gulf War in 1991.
“We have very convincing evidence that Iraq maintains an
extensive programme for the production and weaponisation of
weapons of mass destruction,” Bolton told a news conference
during his third and last stop in a tour of Asia.
“That is information that we have, and I think that, at an
appropriate time and in an appropriate way, we will make the case
about Iraq’s violations,” Bolton said.
