Jim noted the polls out of South Carolina. Some of them make the race look like the basic state of play prior to New Hampshire, with Trump with a big lead and a contest for a distant second among several bunched-up candidates — except it’s Cruz instead of Kasich who is looking strongest among those contenders. (Rubio, meanwhile, is pushing toward second in some polls the way he was in New Hampshire prior to the debate.) Needless to say, this polling is not highly encouraging for opponents of Trump.
