Again, if the Washington Post poll is correct about the unpopularity of the Iraq war, I think it’s going to create real cross-pressures in the Democratic party. Bush is going to stick Iraq out, and so most Republicans will line up behind him. But you’ve got to think more prominent Democrats will begin to advocate an outright withdrawal, creating interesting splits and pressures on someone like Hillary, who wants to try to seem reasonable on national-security issues.
