My homage to Dan Hodges, the Daily Telegraph’s Blairite blogger, for his dashingly reckless claims that Obama had already won the election, may have to be re-considered. Today Hodges has a blog post on the mathematical beauty of the U.S. electoral college that, in addition to being pretty interesting, seems to concede implicitly that Romney might have a chance, albeit a slim one, of passing the post first. I was saddened to read this. I pray he’s not losing his brio. So I make this appeal:
Don’t do it, Dan. Don’t join the massed ranks of desiccated calculating machines, of green-eye-shaded statisticians with liquid nitrogen in our veins. Keep swashing your buckle. Stay Cavalier!
