Steele’s Woes Intensify

Politico reports that 88 of the 168 members of the Republican National Committee have decided not to re-elect Michael Steele as chair. A successful candidate needs at least 85 votes to win, so if that number holds, Steele is guaranteed to lose. On top of that, Politico interprets RNC chief of staff Mike Leavitt and communications director Doug Heye’s recent decisions to resign as marks against Steele’s chairmanship.
